Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Traditional media, including radio, television, and newspapers, remain vital tools for disseminating information and promoting events, especially in local communities. In Minna Local Government Area, Niger State, traditional media platforms play a crucial role in creating awareness about local events such as cultural festivals, community gatherings, and public awareness campaigns. Despite the proliferation of digital media, traditional outlets continue to serve as reliable and accessible channels for information dissemination, particularly in areas with limited internet penetration. Studies by Adekunle and Ibrahim (2024) emphasize the importance of traditional media in bridging the communication gap between event organizers and the local populace. However, the extent to which traditional media effectively promote local events in Minna requires further exploration, considering the evolving media landscape and the challenges of audience engagement.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
